Agility - Dog Sports
What is Agility and why do we do it? Agility is a sport that we enjoy with our dogs, working as a team. You can enjoy the sport in itself or you can compete against others. You and your dog take on a number of obstacles, which can include jumps, hoops, tunnels, weave poles, seesaws and other obstacles which involve your dog climbing equipment, running, jumping and having the most fun. Rule Number One – laugh when things don’t go right and let your dog grin at you when you’ve got it wrong – and grin right back! Competitions are run against the clock so your dog gets to run fast as well!
Agility is not only fun for your dog, but also builds your dog’s confidence and bond with you, as the handler. It is also a great opportunity to socialise your dog with other dogs (most work is done off lead) and people out to enjoy themselves.
Our Club constantly updates our training equipment, and many of our trainers have dogs that perform in competition trials throughout the state and country. If you want to compete we will help you on your way to gaining “titles” and awards for your dog and competing at every level across Australia. If not, just come and enjoy yourselves. Or compete at a purely local level with your dog’s new friends at Manly Club.
We train Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced. Our Chief Instructor is also an Agility Judge and one of his dogs has achieved "Agility Champion" title, the highest possible in Agility and one of only a handful in Australia. All of our instructors are volunteers, and we love what we do.
